AN OPTICIANS in Shipley invited some four-legged friends in to store to raise awareness for a local charity.

The team at Specsavers in Shipley is hosted the charity on Friday 1 June, from 10-2pm. The Greyhound Trust, a charity which rehomes greyhounds that have retired from racing, is looking to raise awareness about the breed.

Bhrat Phakey, store director at Specsavers in Shipley, says: ‘Greyhounds are such loving, gentle dogs, yet many are unloved once they retire from racing. It was brilliant to host a fun meet and greet so that the public can learn more about the breed.’

‘Visitors to the store got to know the lovable hounds and learn more about why they make such great pets. The charity is close to our hearts, and one member of staff brought her greyhound along to join in.’

As well as the meet and greet, there was a tombola and more information on homing the dogs. The money collected will go to the West Yorkshire branch of The Greyhound Trust, which has rehomed hundreds of greyhounds since it was set up in 2000.

Anyone interested in rehoming a greyhound can visit or call Kath on 01484 865280.
